Children of prisoners address Westminster

It was standing room only in Westminster for a child-led conference organised by one of our lecturers at LJMU.

Dozens of people attended the event in the Churchill Room to hear directly about the experiences of children and young people who have a parent in prison.

The 'Our Time to be Heard' conference was organised by senior lecturer in the School of Education, Dr Lorna Brookes, and the community-based organisations Children Heard and Seen and the MyTime project.

The aim of the conference was to give those children a voice and enable policy makers, parliamentarians and civil servants to understand how they are affected by having a parent in prison and what professional support they may need.

You can check out Lorna's blog about the subject here.
